Nichols College men’s basketball head coach Tom Glynn has announced the addition of Dan Salazar to his coaching staff.

Salazar spent the last two years (2013-15) as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program at nearby Assumption College, where he was responsible for in-game matchups and was the director of The Assumption Summer Shootout. Earlier this year, he accepted the head boys basketball coaching position at Boston Amateur Basketball Club, which is a professional development club through Nike and USA Basketball.

“Danny is a very good friend who I have a long professional relationship with,” said Glynn, who begins his second season at Nichols in 2015-16. “His experience coaching at the Division II level, along with his position as a head coach in the BABC program, will enable him to make a seamless transition and add immediate value to our program. He has a complete knowledge of our defensive and offensive system,
along with our teaching points, and is exceptional with player development.”

Salazar has previously served as the head boys basketball coach at both North Cambridge Catholic High School (2005-09) and Xaverian Brothers High School (2009-12). He guided North Cambridge to a state championship in 2007-08 and the state runner-up the following year. At Xavierian Brothers Salazar inherited a program that had gone a combined 8-32 in the two seasons prior to his arrival and went 21-21 in his first two years at the helm.

A physical education teacher at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School since 2001, Salazar has worked at Bill Curley’s Montessori Basketball Camp and served as a coach and evaluator for New England Top 100, Hoop Group. He’s also been the Camp Director at Xaverian Brothers Basketball Camp.
