DII DIRT: Tuskegee set to hire former DI head coach

I can confirm that Tuskegee University will name Benjy Taylor as their new head basketball coach. He will replace Jerry Dunn whose contract was not renewed this past spring after five seasons at the helm (52-87).

Taylor has spent the past three seasons as an assistant on Rod Barnes staff at CSU Bakersfield. Before that, he served as the interim head coach at Hawaii (2014-15) and the head coach at Chicago State (2007-10). In 2014-15 at Hawaii, Taylor guided the Rainbow Warriors to a 22-13 record, and advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament championship game.

Taylor has also spent time as an assistant at Hawaii, Pepperdine, Tulane, Northern Illinois, Cornell, The Citadel, and Indiana State. The coaching veteran also worked as the head coach at DIII North Central College (IL) from 2001-04.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
