I have heard that there are three finalists to replace Mike Theulen as the head coach at Western New England University. The three names that I’ve heard are:
- Kevin Hopkins – Coaching Coordinator – Santa Cruz Warriors (NBA D-League). He is a former player and assistant coach at nearby Amherst College. After graduation from Amherst, he played professionally overseas before spending four seasons on Dave Hixon’s staff.
- Chris Oroszko – Assistant Coach American International College. This past season was his second season at AIC (both AIC and WNE are in Springfield, MA). Has also been an assistant at Westfield State, Kenyon, Anna Maria, Connecticut College, and his alma mater, Clark. Has experience as a head coach, serving as the women’s coach at Anna Maria from 2010-2012.
- Colin Tabb – Head Coach Loomis Chaffee (MA) prep school. The former Brandeis University assistant is also the director of BasketBull, and organization which runs tournaments and exposure events at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. Played at Trinity College (CT).
It sounds like one of the three may have already been offered the job, and an official announcement could be made rely next week.
