Dominic Parker Named Christopher Newport University Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach

Christopher Newport University Director of Athletics Kyle McMullin and Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Krikorian today announced the hiring of DOMINIC PARKER as assistant coach.

“We’re thrilled to have someone of Dom’s caliber joining our staff,” Krikorian said. “His character, experience, and recruiting acumen will make him a great addition to our program.”

Parker comes to Christopher Newport following two seasons assisting the Shenandoah University men’s basketball program. He received his Bachelor of Science from Virginia State in 2012 and Masters of Science in 2013, and began his coaching career at Virginia State as a graduate assistant in the 2012-2013 season.

The Raleigh, N.C., native then assisted the program at Richard Bland College from 2013-2015. Richard Bland’s 2014-2015 squad won the National Championship of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

The position on Krikorian’s staff became open when Jarren Dyson accepted an assistant coaching position at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.

Christopher Newport advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament this past season and finished the year with a mark of 27-3. The Captains, who were a Final Four team in 2015-2016, have recorded a mark of 57-5 over the last two seasons.
