Jeff Lebo will return to East Carolina for an eight season according to AD Jeff Compher. Appearing on the Talk of the Town podcast, Compher threw his support behind Lebo;
“I was very pleased with how we finished the season, and I look for signs of progress, and I saw those this year. It was complicated with Jeff’s surgery and that was a tough situation. I’d never been through a situation where a head coach had to take that much time away from their season due to a health issue. I think the staff – Mike Perry, the other assistant coaches – the student-athletes, really handled it well. I was really proud of them. I think competitively we got better throughout the season and I was really glad to see it.
“From my perspective, I don’t anticipate any change or any differences. I’m encouraged and look forward to next season with the leadership that we have for men’s and women’s programs.”
Lebo has compiled a 114-118 record during his time at ECU. The Pirates have not had a winning record over the past three seasons, and finished above .500 just twice during Lebo’s tenure. They did win the CIT Championship in 2013 when they went 23-12. Lebo, who missed the final 14 games this past season after undergoing hip surgery, inked an extension back in 2014 that lasts through the 2020-21 season.
