Egnatz named Assistant Basketball Coach at Maryville University

Maryville University announced that Lance Egnatz has been hired as an assistant coach for the Saints men’s basketball team under new head coach Preston Ingram. Egnatz comes to Maryville after serving as interim head coach at Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga.
 
During his tenure at CSU, Egnatz helped the Lakers to an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and back-to-back Peach Belt Conference regular season titles. In 2017-18, he helped CSU to a 24-7 record to tie the program’s record for wins in the DII era. The Lakers made the NCAA Tournament and recorded a win over Carson-Newman to advance to the Southeast Region semifinals.
 
Egnatz spent two seasons at Division I Tennessee-Martin. In 2013-14, he helped the Skyhawks reach the finals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, including a win over OVC East Champion Murray State. Prior to UT-Martin, Egnatz worked for four seasons at Lincoln Memorial under current Saint Louis University head coach Josh Schertz. During his time at LMU, Egnatz helped the Railsplitters to some of the best seasons in program history. The 2010-11 team notched a 27-3 record, a No. 10 national ranking and the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history. The next season, LMU reached No. 1 in the NCAA Division II rankings and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
 
Egnatz previously worked at Polk State College in Winter Haven, Fla., and served as the head boys basketball coach at Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines, Fla. His collegiate playing career saw him star for two seasons at Penn State University – Beaver, where he was the team captain and Robert J. Miklos Award Winner, representing dedication, leadership, sportsmanship and hard work. Egnatz played two seasons at Lynn University where and helped the Knights to 36 victories. He also played baseball for both PSU-B and Lynn, leading PSU-B to the 1999 National Junior College Athletic Association World Series.
 
Egnatz earned his bachelor’s degree from Lynn University in 2002, and graduated from Duquesne University with a master’s in sports leadership in 2014. He is married to the former Juliette Schohn, and the couple have two children, Kylie and Erik.
