D2 Elizabeth City State University has announced that they have parted ways with head men’s basketball coach Shawn Walker. The University released the following statement:

“Earlier today, ECSU parted ways with former men’s basketball coach Shawn Walker.  We wish Shawn the best in his future endeavors and appreciate his time with the Vikings.” 

Walker was the head coach at ECSU from 2001-14, and was hired again back in 2018. Between stints with the Vikings, he spent three seasons as the head coach at Grambling University. During his latest stay at ECSU, he went 40-46, and holds a 233-222 record in his 16 total seasons at the University.

Walker is an ECSU alum who is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame.
