Rhode Island College has named Eric Alleyne as an assistant men’s basketball coach. Alleyne will assist Head Men’s Basketball Coach Michael Byrnes with all facets of the program, including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching.

“We are very excited to have Eric back on the Rhode Island College sidelines,” Byrnes said. “He had two successful seasons in a Rhode Island College uniform, played in the NCAA Tournament and knows the Little East Conference, so he will be a huge asset for our program. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

“I am truly blessed to be fortunate enough to give back to the institution that has done so much for me,” Alleyne said. “I am looking forward to working with the team and the coaching staff.”

The Watertown native played for two years at RIC, appearing in 57 games and averaging 10.4 points, 3.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Alleyne helped the Anchormen to a 20-9 overall record, the Little East Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA Div. III Tournament.
