Nichols College Director of Athletics Chris Colvin has announced the hiring of Scott Faucher as the 19th men’s basketball head coach in program history.

Faucher comes to Nichols following four years as the full-time assistant coach at Bowdoin College, a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The Bears compiled a record of 57-39 (.594 winning pct.) during a four-year run that saw them produce a NESCAC Player of the Year, NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and a Second Team All-NESCAC selection. Five of Faucher’s recruits cracked the starting lineup as underclassmen as he developed recruiting strategies and established contacts both regionally and nationally during his time in Brunswick.

“I am extremely excited to join the Nichols athletic department as the new head men’s basketball coach,” said Faucher, who replaces former head coach Tom Glynn, who accepted a similar position at Rhode Island College last month. “I’d like to thank the Director of Athletics Chris Colvin and the entire search committee for the opportunity to continue to build an impressive program with a rich tradition. From the moment I stepped on campus, it was clear that Nichols is an institution that is committed to excellence. I’m eager to get on campus and join the team as we work to add to the tradition of success that is Nichols College Athletics.”

Off the court at Bowdoin, Faucher was responsible for creating and implementing in-season and off-season workout plans. He also assisted in the creation, planning, and development of daily practice plans, led all opponent scouting reports and film presentations, and was involved in all on-court instruction, demonstration, and drill breakdown.

“This applicant pool was the deepest one that I have experienced in three years at Nichols College and included candidates with experience at three NCAA divisions as well as several current head coaches,” said Colvin. “Scott Faucher is the candidate that rose to the top of the pool at each stage of the process. He is an articulate and driven coach with a clear plan for keeping Nichols at the top of the Commonwealth Coast Conference and taking this program to the national stage. He is a dynamic recruiter who will relate well to prospective student-athletes. His experience at Bowdoin far exceeds that of a traditional assistant coach and I have no doubt that he is ready to be a head coach. Coach Faucher has a clear vision for the program and I firmly believe that he will create a culture that leads to great student-athlete experiences.”

Faucher began his collegiate coaching career at Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, Vt. when, just two months after receiving his diploma, he was named an assistant coach for the Purple Knights – a member of one of the strongest Division II conference in the nation, the Northeast 10. Faucher was responsible for all recruiting efforts, facilitated a strength & conditioning and player development program, led fundraising efforts, and prepared both scouting reports for opponents as well as self-scout presentations.

A native of Lebanon, N.H., Faucher received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2013 from Wheaton (MA) College, who was a four-year member of the Lyons basketball program, appearing in 98 games during his career (28 starts). Away from the collegiate basketball scene, he is the founder and director of both the Lebanon Longhorns AAU program and the Drills for Skills program. He is also the son of former Dartmouth College head coach Dave Faucher, who won 136 games for the Big Green from 1991-2004.

Faucher inherits a Nichols program coming off back-to-back Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
