Flagler College men’s basketball coach Chad Warner announced that Blake Selland has joined the basketball staff as an assistant coach. Selland played four seasons for Warner at Shorter University (2011-15).
“Blake Selland is the greatest teammate that I ever coached. Hands down,” said Warner. “I am so thankful to be able to work with him as we continue to build here at Flagler. His knowledge of the game, desire to be great and desire to serve make him a huge asset to Flagler Basketball and Flagler College.”
Selland played guard for the Hawks and helped the team to a NAIA Division “Fab Four” in 2012 and the NCCAA national championship in 2013. Following his graduation in 2015, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Tyler Murray at Shorter. In both seasons, the Hawks qualified for the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
“It’s always special to be able to work with someone that you coached as a player,” added Warner. “Being able to work alongside Blake is particularly special for me because of how much I always valued him as a person. I expect him to be a great model to our young men and am excited for them to be able to be coached by him.”
The Charlotte, North Carolina native earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Shorter in 2015 and received his master’s in sport management a year later, also at Shorter.
