Fordham Men’s Basketball Head Coach Keith Urgo has announced the addition of Roy Blumenthal and Chris Harris to his staff for the 2024-25 season.
Blumenthal will serve as the director of program management while Harris will serve as the team’s assistant recruiting coordinator.
Blumenthal brings nearly five decades of coaching experience to Fordham. Most recently, Blumenthal served as the director of player development at Rider from 2019-24. In this role, he assisted the head coach with preparation for games and practices while also playing a role in scouting. Blumenthal also coordinated the team’s film sessions and served as a liaison to administrators in the athletic department and across campus.
Blumenthal spent a majority of his career at his alma mater, West Chester University, when he served 26 years as an assistant coach. During that span, Blumenthal mentored 50 all-conference players and the program boasted a 95 percent graduation rate while averaging 19 wins per season and appearing in six NCAA Division II Tournaments. West Chester turned in a winning record in 24 of Blumenthal’s 26 seasons on staff, including a stretch of 17 straight.
While at West Chester, Blumenthal also served as a development assistant and an adjunct professor in the department of physical education.
Blumenthal also has experience coaching at the high school level, including two years as the head basketball coach at Avon Grove High School from 2016-18, leading the team to 23 games in two years after winning just 21 games in the seven years prior to his arrival.
Blumenthal is also the founder of Global Sports Academy, a non-profit that seeks to foster international good will and an enhanced understanding between nations through sports.
Blumenthal holds a bachelor’s degree from West Chester in sports administration. He served three years in the United States Army before beginning his undergraduate studies at West Chester.
Prior to arriving at Rose Hill, Harris served as the assistant athletic director and assistant boys’ basketball coach at Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School from 2021-24, where he oversaw all aspects of administration for the school’s varsity and junior varsity sports teams.
Before that, Harris served as both an assistant coach and paraprofessional at Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, Conn., where he assisted in recruiting for the school’s prep team.
Harris, a four-year men’s basketball player at Southern Connecticut State who graduated in 2012, has also spent time on coaching staffs at Division III Arcadia University and The MacDuffie School.
Harris also. boasts extensive experience working numerous programs on the grassroots circuit including K-low Elite, Georgia Stars and Pro Scholar Athletes (PSA).
The Fordham men’s basketball team will return to action on Friday, Nov. 15, when it heads to Manhattan for the Battle of the Bronx. Tip-off from Draddy Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
