Former NBA player takes Johnston CC job

Johnston CC (NC) has named Henry Dickerson as their new head men’s basketball coach. Dickerson played in the National Basketball Association for two seasons and has more than 30 years of collegiate basketball coaching experience as both a head coach and assistant coach at five universities in the South.

Dickerson got his coaching start in 1979 as an assistant at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played guard from 1969-1973. After that, he coached at Marshall University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before he came to North Carolina in 2004 to be the head coach of the men’s basketball team at North Carolina Central University. Dickerson led the Eagles through their first Division I competition in 2007-08. He then moved on to UNCW where he was an assistant coach for the Seahawks in 2010.
