Gimbel tabbed as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Washington College

Washington College head men’s basketball coach Aaron Goodman has announced that Joe Gimbel has joined the Shoremen as assistant coach.

“I am excited to welcome Joe Gimbel to our Shoremen Basketball Family!” stated Goodman. “He has a terrific pedigree, working alongside legendary, Big 5 Hall of Fame Coach, Fran Dunphy, and current coach and Temple basketball legend, Aaron McKie, that will instantly elevate our program.  Joe has already hit the ground running, and I look forward to his positive impact on our program!”

Gimbel comes to Chestertown after spending the past three years as graduate manager at Temple, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sports and recreation management in May, 2018. He was a four-year student manager for the Owls as an undergraduate student.

“I’m excited to join such a successful basketball program and such a historic college,” Gimbel said. “I’m very grateful for coach Goodman giving me this opportunity and can’t wait to get to to work.”

In addition to his duties as student manager, Gimbel has served as an advanced statistics intern (spring of 2018) and operations intern (fall of 2018). For the past two years, Gimbel was also on the camp staff of Fran Dunphy’s Basketball Camps.

Outside of Temple, Gimbel has volunteered with the Philadelphia 76ers and was part of the 50/50 Staff for the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2017 season.
