Griffin named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at SUNY Canton

Mason Griffin, a former head basketball coach at the collegiate level, has been named the next assistant men’s basketball coach of the SUNY Canton men’s basketball program.

Griffin comes to SUNY Canton from Unity College where he was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the Rams during the 2019-2020 season.

“I am very excited to have Mason join our staff,” Head Coach Shiva Senthil said. “Mason has great familiarity of our league already and with his vast experience at such an early stage of his coaching career, I am confident he will be able to step in and help the program immediately.”

Prior to Unity, Griffin spent three seasons coaching at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine where he was the head freshman boys’ basketball coach and assistant boys’ varsity coach. During his time at Mt. Ararat the team made state playoffs on multiple occasions and Griffin coached the KVAC Player of the Year. Griffin also has experience coaching at various camps across the nation.

“This has been a great opportunity to be able to join Coach Senthil’s coaching staff here at SUNY Canton,” Griffin said. “I am excited to be joining the SUNY Canton men’s basketball program to help continue growing the great success the program has been seeing. I am looking forward to using my background and experience to help develop great student-athletes within our program both on and off the court.”

A native of Topsham, Maine, Griffin earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Thomas College in May of 2020. He also received his Bachelor’s Degree from Thomas College in Sport Management in May of 2019.
