Haring named Director of Basketball Operations at Dayton

University of Dayton men’s basketball coach Anthony Grant has announced that James Haring has joined the Flyer staff as Director of Basketball Operations.  Haring, 27, comes to UD from Jacksonville State where he was Coordinator of Basketball Operations since 2017.

“We are excited to add James to our program,” Grant said.  “He brings a wealth of experience in the operations role from his time at Illinois and most recently, Jacksonville State.  He fits will within the makeup of our staff.  James is a young man with high character who has a great personality.  He is a great addition to our staff and our basketball program.”

Haring will be responsible for the administrative duties of the men’s basketball program including team travel and daily scheduling.

He is a summa cum laude graduate of West Virginia University where he was a four-year team manager for Bob Huggins’ Mountaineer basketball program.  Haring was head manager as a senior.

Haring spent the 2016-17 season at the University of Illinois as head coach John Groce’s director of basketball operations. He also served two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Fighting Illini.

A native of New Lenox, Illinois, Haring earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from West Virginia in 2014 and his master’s degree in educational policy studies from Illinois in 2016.

He is currently a member of the Teamworks Basketball Leadership Committee.
