Harris named Assistant Basketball Coach at Hardin-Simmons

Hardin-Simmons’ men’s basketball coach Matt Brackett has named Maverick Harris as the new assistant coach with the program.

Harris is a former Hardin-Simmons player. He played on a pair of American Southwest Conference Championship teams in 2016 and 2017 and was with the program from 2015 to 2017. He started his playing career at Schreiner where he was an honorable mention All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection in 2014.

He most recently served as the video coordinator at Abilene Christian University. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Webber International, an NAIA program in Florida. He also spent time as a graduate assistant at Oral Roberts University and was part of their 2021 run to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Harris is a native of Boerne, Texas and has a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons in marketing and management and a master’s degree in sports and leisure administration from Oral Roberts.

He replaces Spencer Beaty who became the head coach at Regent University in Virginia.
