Hausladen named Assistant Coach at ULM

ULM head men’s basketball coach Keith Richard announced the hiring of Alex Hausladen as assistant coach.

Hausladen comes to ULM after spending the last eight seasons as the director of basketball operations with Sun Belt Conference rival Texas State. During his time with the Bobcats, Texas State claimed the 2020-21 SBC regular-season championship, posted three 20-win seasons, reached the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 in four seasons and received votes in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll in 2019.

Hausladen is a practitioner of advanced analytical statistics in team assessment and scouting. His responsibilities in San Marcos included scheduling, scouting, recruiting, serving as the compliance liaison as well as coaching and academic support.

Prior to Texas State, Hausladen spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Southeastern Louisiana. During his time with the Lions, he coached five All-Southland Conference players, four All-Louisiana players, three National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District players and made three trips to the SLC Tournament.

Before arriving in Hammond, Hausladen was an assistant coach at Christian Brothers University for two seasons. He helped the Buccaneers to a 47-17 mark, including two NCAA Division II Tournament berths, the 2009 South Region Championship and an appearance in the Elite Eight. He coached one First-Team All-American, four All-Region selections, the 2009 South Region and Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Year and also recruited a GSC Freshman of the Year.

He also spent one season as an assistant coach at the University of the Ozarks. One player he signed was named to the American Southwest Conference All-Freshman Team and was a two-time All-ASC honoree, finishing his career as one of the top 3-point shooters in school history.

While in college at the University of Arkansas, he was a student manager and video coordinator for head coach Stan Heath. The Razorbacks reached the 2006 NCAA Tournament. While at Arkansas, he worked with a number of future NBA players, including Ronnie Brewer, the 14th overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Utah Jazz.

Hausladen is a 2006 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He completed his Master of Education degree at CBU in 2008 and his Master of Science in kinesiology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2016.
