Tallahassee State College Athletics announced today that Head Men’s Basketball Coach Corey Hendren will depart the College to accept an assistant coaching position with the Georgia State Panthers men’s basketball, joining the staff of newly appointed head coach Jon Cremins.
Hendren, who was named head coach on April 27, 2023, leaves TSC after three successful seasons at the helm, compiling a 61–34 overall record and leading the Eagles to new heights in one of the nation’s most competitive conferences.
“I want everyone to know how thankful I am for TSC and how great the experience has been,” said Hendren. “This program, this College, and this community have meant so much to my family and me. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built here and even more proud of the young men who have come through this program.”
During his tenure, Hendren guided the Eagles to a Region 8 Tournament appearance in 2023–24, advancing to the semifinals, and led the team to the 2025–26 Panhandle Conference regular season championship. He was named Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year during the 2025–26 season, which also included a 6–1 record against Top 10 opponents and an overtime victory over Central Georgia Tech, marking his 100th career head coaching win.
Off the court, Hendren emphasized student-athlete success, with 17 players transferring to four-year institutions, including seven to NCAA Division I programs.
“This place has truly been special,” Hendren added. “I’m grateful for the support from our administration, our fans, and everyone who believed in what we were building. TSC will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Dr. Sheri Rowland, Vice President for Student Affairs and Interim Athletics Director, praised Hendren’s impact on the program and the College.
“Coach Hendren has made a lasting impact on Tallahassee State College through his leadership, competitive success, and commitment to student-athlete development,” said Rowland. “We are incredibly proud of what he has accomplished here, and we are equally proud to see him advance to the Division I level. His success is a reflection of the strength of our program and our commitment to excellence both on and off the court.”
Hendren’s departure continues a strong tradition of TSC coaches advancing to higher levels of collegiate athletics, further solidifying the College’s reputation as a destination for developing talent and leadership.
A national search for TSC’s next head men’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
