Sydney Hines has joined the Loyola University Maryland men’s basketball staff as the director of operations, Head Coach Tavaras Hardy announced.
A native of the Baltimore area, Hines recently served as a graduate assistant coach for the last two seasons at nearby Goucher College where she also earned her Master of Education.
“I am thrilled to welcome Sydney to our Loyola men’s basketball,” Hardy said. “Her drive, organizational skills and competitiveness won the job. As a former student-athlete and graduate assistant with Baltimore roots, Sydney is prepared to hit the ground running in making sure we continue to provide the unparalleled student-athlete experience we promise our players.”
Hines was a standout high school player in Baltimore County at New Town High School where she was a Baltimore Sun All-Metro Second Team and All-County First Team honoree. She left the Owings Mills school as the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,835 points) and played collegiately at Central Connecticut State University.
She was a four-year member of the Blue Devils program, finishing her career with 439 points, 116 rebounds, 84 assists and 41 steals in 97 career games. Hines had 12 double-digit scoring performances, highlighted by a 19-point high as a junior against Fairleigh Dickinson.
In addition to her coaching at Goucher, Hines worked for Hoop Group basketball organization in New Jersey and as a children’s fitness instructor.
She graduated from Central Connecticut State with a bachelor of science in exercise science.
