  • I tweeted about this one yesterday, but if you haven’t watched Dr. George Barber’s Greenville University team play, you should. In a weekend where NC State scored 24 points in a loss to Virginia Tech, Barber’s squad exploded for 200! Earlier in the week, GU beat MacMurray 167-145, and then topped that on Saturday with their 200-146 win against Fontbonne. Barber’s squad is now averaging 135ppg on the season. If you have a few minutes to take a peek, it’s definitely worth it: https://collegetvticket.com/player/9888
  • Ugly scene on Saturday night at the end of the Howard and Norfolk State game as a brawl broke out during the handshake lines. According to Tramel Raggs from the Washington Post, ” tempers boiled over at the handshake line, creating a chaotic scene of players having to be restrained from going at each other and Bison Coach Kevin Nickelberry being held back from a Spartans player.” Video of the brawl was captured HERE. Howard released the following statement: “The altercation at the end of the game was unfortunate. Physical altercations or any form of unsportsmanlike conduct is not reflective of our values at Howard. We will review the tape, as well as forward a copy to the conference office, to determine what disciplinary actions need to be taken.”
  • ESPN’s Rece Davis went off on Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway this weekend. After claiming that other coaches were “jealous” of him because he played in the NBA, Davis went at him on College Game Day; “Penny Hardaway is absolutely right about that because everybody who didn’t play in the NBA is jealous of people who did, because they had big money,” Davis said. “And you know what else? Penny is jealous of people who were better than him in the NBA. And Penny’s probably jealous of other coaches around the country who have a bigger budget, a better plane, better practice facility … you know why that is? As the great American philosopher Jerry Seinfeld once said, ‘I’m jealous of everybody. Everybody is jealous of everybody, Penny, so here’s an idea — win some more games, get to the top, keep recruiting and make them even more jealous.” More on this from GoVols247 HERE
