HoopDirt.com’s Starting Five Presented by FastModel Sports
By: Wes Kosel / HoopDirt.com Contributor
Here are five set plays from Northern Iowa Head Coach Ben Jacobson. Jacobson’s teams are always interesting to watch. He runs a ton of different actions and his players really understand how to play in his offense.
Northern Iowa – Triple Corner Drive
The point guard gets to create in this play with three players overloaded in the right corner. This works great for a left-handed guard.
Northern Iowa – PNR Combo DHO
3 cuts off of a screen from 5 and then Panthers then go into a ball screen / DHO / ball screen combo action.
Northern Iowa – Horns Stagger Shallow Roll
4 and 5 set up as if they are setting a staggered horns screen, but as soon as 1 clears 5, 4 makes a shallow roll out to the right wing.

Northern Iowa – High Flat Drive
Once again, the point guard has the freedom in this play to create off of the dribble. 4 can move as necessary to get open inside.
Northern Iowa – High Twist
1 uses a high ball screen from 5, but if it isn’t there he turns and uses the screen again.
