Stony Brook’s Steve Pikiell will become the new head basketball coach Rutgers. The official announcement is expected as early as today.
Pikiell just wrapped up his 11th season at SBU – his Seawolves lost to Kentucky on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA tournament. He was honored as the 2016 America East Coach of the Year after he led the Seawolves to a 26-7 record. This was the 5th straight season that Stony Brook has won 22+ games, and the 6th year out of the past seven. Pikiell wraps up his tenure at the school with a 192-156 record (119-48 since 2011).
The former UConn captain will replace Eddie Jordan who was fired back on March 10th. More on this when it becomes official.
