I have now heard from two separate sources that former Lawson State head coach Phillip Shumpert has been hired as an assistant at Jackson State. Shumpert, who was 82-46 during his four seasons at Lawson State, spent last season as an assistant at Southern Poly (GA). I have heard that this will be officially announced by the end of the week.
