Coach James makes the move over from the Women to the Men’s program
Allen University announced that Jason James has been named the head coach of the Yellow Jackets Men’s Basketball Team.
“Coach James and I share the same vision for Allen — putting together a competitive team, competing for a Conference Championship and eventually competing for a National Championship,” Yellow Jackets Athletic Director Chad Washington said in a statement. “Jason has a successful track record recruiting the AAC footprint and beyond, and is one of the best coaches in the conference at building a defense around his offensive talent. He plays a fun up-tempo style that players love and fans will enjoy. Jason runs his program with impeccable character and has a high care factor and connection with his student-athletes. He’s been a part of our program as the Head Women’s basketball Coach and has done a tremendous job rebuilding the program to what it is today and we know his experience and success will be immediate assets for our Men’s Basketball program.”
I am extremely excited for the opportunity to coach the Men’s Basketball Team here at Allen University,” James said in a statement. “Allen has a tremendous basketball tradition, and I am looking forward to building on the excellent foundation that is in place on the court and in the classroom. Coaching on the women’s side for the past 4 seasons, I know firsthand the energy level that the faithful Allen students and alumni bring to the game environment will be electrifying.” Coach James closed with saying “He would like to thank President, Dr. Ernest McNealey and Patric Simon the Special Assistant to the President for Athletics for the opportunity to lead the Men’s Basketball program.”
