Vassar College invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach/Facilities Assistant. This is a benefit-eligible ten-month position. The successful candidate will report to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.

The successful candidate will assist the head coach in all aspects of a competitive Division III basketball program, including, but not limited to:
The recruitment of quality student-athletes
Administrative duties as assigned
Scouting and game film preparation/video exchange
Budget management
Travel
On-court instruction for practices
Player development
Academic monitoring
Game strategies and competitive coaching
Laundry and equipment oversight for the program
Participation in community service and fundraising activities for the program.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Goal-oriented, driven and strong organization skills required.
Responsibilities for facilities include: Assisting the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities in the administration and oversight of all departmental facilities, uniforms and equipment, including but not limited to:
Building, facility, and desk supervision and oversight of the Athletics & Fitness Center (AFC), and/or other athletic facilities as assigned,
Opening, daily monitoring and/or closing of the Athletics & Fitness Center (early morning, evening and weekends as well as holiday hours required),
Assisting with the oversight and training of student-workers for the AFC and all other athletics facilities,
Ensuring a welcoming, open, effective, safe experience for all individuals using athletic and recreational facilities,
Identifying maintenance and repairs items as necessary,
Perform spot checks and cleaning of facilities as necessary,
Pre-game set-up and cleanup for home athletics contests, physical educational classes and recreational activities or other events conducted in all athletics facilities, (may include heavy lifting)
Weekend Facilities On-Call responsibilities,
Attendance at weekly Facility Staff meetings,
Delivery and pick-up of water to various practice/game sites.
Game/Facility site management,
Laundry and equipment oversight for the athletics program,
Other additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and the Director of Athletics & Physical Education.
