Description:

The Director of Operations for Men’s Basketball assists the Head Coach in planning, organizing and facilitating the Men’s Basketball Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the film exchanges, including responsibility for but not limited to:
o all incoming film requests
o obtaining tapes for scouting purposes
o recording games on television or via satellite dish
o knowing conference rules for tape exchange
o downloading opponent films on computer
• Responsibility for the team travel, including but not limited to:
o Coordinating team travel with Travel Office
o Organizing hotel requests, including team meals, film equipment and
completing room walk-throughs
o Getting directions to all places
o Setting up shoot-around times at opponent sights
Budgeting for each trip and coordinating all money requests with the Senior Associate Athletic Director
• Coordinate student community service, including but not limited to:
o Assisting players with ideas, sights, and contacts
o Logging all hours
o Handling and coordinating all requests for clinics and speaking engagements (2 clinics per semester)
• Oversee the student team managers

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Serve as CYO/Elementary/ Middle School Liaison
• Assist with marketing
• Work directly with the Athletics marketing person for Field trip day, and other game-day promotions
• Coordinate the Guest Coach Program, including but not limited to:
o Organizing players’ requests
o Contacting guest coaches and scheduling according to our game schedule
o Meeting, greeting and attending to guest coach(s) on game day
• Direct the Hawks’ Kids Club, including but not limited to:
o Organizing mail outs and delivery of application forms
o Organizing 3 events per year for club only
o Design shirts and delivering before game #1
o Monthly newsletters with features
• Assist in the daily operations of summer basketball camps
• Order individual, team, and Hall of Fame awards for banquet
• Assist in the weight room when needed

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree.
• Prior work or participation in a Division I, II, or III college basketball program.
• Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Saint Joseph’s University.
• Successful background check clearance under Saint Joseph’s University “Minors on Campus Policy” (PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting Check and PA Child Abuse Check).
