Description:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with the coordination and direction of the Men’s Basketball program.

The Director of Player Personnel for Men’s Basketball assists with student-athlete retention and academic success of the student-athletes, oversees all on campus recruiting and recruiting databases, serves as community liaison, and serves as the primary marketing/communications liaison for the program. The position will provide leadership to the basketball coaching staff by assisting with recruiting, opponent analysis, game preparation, practice reviews and evaluations. This position represents the Men’s Basketball Program in community outreach efforts and in public forums

Position Duties

30% RECRUITING COORDINATOR
Responsible for oversight of recruiting database, mail outs, and on and off campus visits. Coordinates the meetings for official visits. Serves as liaison to Compliance on updating coaching staff on deadlines, rules, and changes. Organizes coach travel, call logs, and player questionnaires. Schedules on campus visits and organizes transportation, tours and meetings.

25% ACADEMIC COORDINATOR
Organizes class schedules with advisers and tracks graduation progress. Oversees study halls and tutoring on campus and on the road. Works closely with academic success center. Serves as liaison to the Head Coach in academics, including working with compliance and admissions. Works with players and academic advisers on NCAA eligibility center. Prepares pre-application binders for Admissions, Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and Compliance. Distributes academic paperwork for admissions, transcripts, progress reports and high school profiles.

15% COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Involves student athletes in our community on and off campus. Coordinates with local groups to make our players visible in the community outside the game of basketball.

10% COMMUNICATION LIAISON
Works with players and their parents disseminating information on insurance, meal planning, academics, and the college transition.

10% PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Monitors and tracks player development progress while they are at OSU. Player communication on and off the court regarding day to day operations. Player off-season planning regarding summer school, summer access, and travel.

5% TEAM MARKETING
Works with Sports Information to market our players and program. Involves the community in Men’s Basketball. Involves the campus in Men’s Basketball.

5% PROGRAM PLAYER ALUMNI LIAISON
Works with all former players on their involvement in the program. Plans gathering including this group around the program.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field of choice.

NCAA Division I assistant coaching experience OR NCAA Division I Operations experience.

Proven effective oral and written communication skills.

This position is designated as a critical, security-sensitive or safety-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position.
