Office of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Men’s Basketball Coach to join our department of Athletics. The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.

The head coach will direct and coordinate all activities of the Men’s Basketball staff, part and full time, in the planning, organizing and coaching of the College of Southern Nevada Men’s Basketball team; ensure compliance by all coaches, with College, Conference, NSHE, CSN and NJCAA policies and regulations.

Recruit and provide educational and athletic opportunities for students from the greater Las Vegas area and Nevada.

The position will also create an atmosphere and recruit student athletes for the program which fit the CSN and NJCAA Division I philosophy for athletics. Coach will strive to maintain a roster of students that is 80% local students with variations approved by the Director of Athletics.

The head coach will oversee and maintain facility usage, and sustain at acceptable levels for competition by all participants. The head coach will ensure academic success and transferability of student athletes in the CSN program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must demonstrate the ability to recruit, coach and improve (teach) talented student-athletes. Exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student athletes and staff. Must be a team player, and have the ability to support and assist other employees. Develop a positive atmosphere for the program both internally and externally within the Athletic Department and College of Southern Nevada.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

The coach will be expected to attend all practices, matches, staff meetings, and retreats, golf tournaments, one night of volunteer work at the Opportunity Village’s Magical Forest, awards banquet, staffing and working athletic events a few times for the designated sports during their seasons.

The coach could be responsible for teaching 1-2 PEX classes per semester and will earn an extra stipend for doing so.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity of condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Requires frequent, sometimes prolonged work on a personal computer/laptop.

ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Working weekends, and evenings will be required as well as extensive travel around the Las Vegas valley and the state. Occasional out of state travel for games and recruiting purpose. Additional physical lifting may be required to completed job assignments that exceed 10 pounds of force.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and previous college basketball coaching and or playing experience required. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, NJCAA policies and compliance issues. Must have experience in recruiting college student-athletes.

SALARY

Flat Rate: $15,000 (10-month period)

PEX Classes: Extra Stipend based off enrollment/cap numbers.
