Rhodes College invites applications for the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with outstanding leadership skills who can recruit, mentor, motivate and teach student-athletes. Guided by the Rhodes Vision, the head men’s basketball coach should build a sense of community and enthusiasm around the men’s basketball program by engaging the student body, alumni, parents and fans. Strong relational skills with internal and external constituents are critical. This position coordinates all phases of men’s intercollegiate basketball program. Additional responsibilities will also be assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics. Other duties include participating in development and fundraising activities with various constituents. This position requires flexibility to travel and work weekends and evenings when necessary. This is a full-time 12 month position.

A Bachelor’s degree is required; however a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Candidates are responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of a basketball program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruit and retain qualified student-athletes, practice and game preparation, athlete development, coaching/teaching, budget management, travel coordination, staff supervision and other areas of sport administration. Maintaining a working relationship with campus colleagues, alumni, community members, and other constituents is key. The ideal candidate will have previous and coaching experience with a strong understanding of the DIII philosophy and its role at a private liberal arts institution. They must also possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, communicate effectively (verbal and written), have the ability to multi-task and operate within an extremely motivated, team oriented atmosphere.
