Description:
The BIG EAST Conference seeks qualified applicants for the position of Senior Director, Men’s Basketball Operations. Based in New York City, and reporting to the Sr. Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball, this position is responsible for the implementation of various key operational activities related to the sport of men’s basketball in the BIG EAST Conference. These responsibilities include assisting in the development of the conference schedule, review and revision of the basketball policy manual, serving as the assistant conference tournament director, and providing administrative support for the conference officiating program/consortium.


POSITION SUMMARY

• Work with various constituencies to assist in the development the conference men’s basketball schedule that meets the conference’s scheduling guidelines.

• Serve as a liaison with Fox Sports on scheduling matters relating to non-conference and conference broadcast requests, such as available dates, game times, etc.

• Assist in the day-to-day interface with member schools’ scheduling administrators, basketball operations directors, and home game administrators. • Work with public building management (e.g. Verizon Center, MSG, Bradley Center, Wells Fargo Center, Prudential Center) on scheduling and operational issues.

• Serve as the assistant operations director of the BIG EAST Tournament. Duties include interface with MSG staff, team operations, coordination of ticket allocations, distribution of team credentials, managing the team video operations center, overseeing the team host program, and insuring adherence to tournament policies/procedures.

• Assist with the review and revision of the men’s basketball policy manual on an annual basis. Provide assistance in identifying issues and managing compliance with policy matters. • Provide administrative assistance to the officiating program/consortium. • Other projects and duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Division I college athletics department, conference office, basketball operations, or similar organization/role.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with complex game and broadcast scheduling.  Knowledge of Bortz software, broadcast partners, etc. a plus.
• Experience in managing large-scale sports events, tournaments, etc.
• Strong familiarity with NCAA and basketball playing rules, as well as game operations regulations.
• Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and presentation.
• Strong understanding of applying analytics to improve scheduling, business decisions, and team performance.
• Strong work ethic and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with various constituents across many campuses.
• Demonstrated knowledge of technology.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree required – Sport Management, Business, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
