Jon Willis joins Linfield College Coaching Staff as Lead Assistant

Jon Willis has joined the Linfield men’s basketball program as an assistant coach.

Willis comes to Linfield from Northwest Conference rival Willamette where he spent the previous four seasons as a lead assistant coach while also overseeing WU’s junior varsity program.

His 12 years of coaching include stops as head boys basketball coach at Yulee High School in Yulee, Florida, and assistant men’s coach at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri.

“We are very fortunate to have Coach Willis joining our program,” said Linfield head coach Shanan Rosenberg. “I look forward to our players, program and college benefiting from his influence and contributions.”

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Willis graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2007. He then pursued a master’s degree in athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine.

“I have known Coach Willis for four years in the Northwest Conference and around regional basketball events,” said Rosenberg. “I have always found him to be impressive and dedicated to our craft.”

“I’m looking forward to being the newest member of the Wildcat family,” said Willis. “My wife, Erika, and son, Kai, are excited about the chance we have here at Linfield to be great and do some special things. I’m a very high-energy and passionate guy. I’m thankful for this opportunity and looking forward to great things this season.”

Linfield is coming off its best season since 2000. The 2018-19 season starts Nov. 11 with a home game against The Evergreen State College.
