I can confirm that Grayson College (TX) will hire veteran coach Scott Monarch to revive their men’s basketball program. The NJCAA DI program was cut after the 2010-11 season, and is expected to start play again next season.
Monarch was most recently an assistant at Navarro College (TX). He had been a member of Buzz Williams’ staff at both University of New Orleans (2006-07) and at Marquette University (2008-12). He has also been an assistant at North Texas, Tennessee State, Grambling State, and at Kentucky Wesleyan. Monarch also spent time in the NBA as a scout for the Mavericks and Knicks.
Aside from his DI and NBA experience, Monarch spent time as the head coach at Panola College (TX) where he became the school’s all-time winningest coach.
More on this when it becomes official.
