JUCO DIRT: Harcum’s Kelly becomes D1 Assistant

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Long-time Harcum College (NJCAA D1) head coach Drew Kelly has resigned, and has become an assistant coach at Northern Illinois. Kelly will be replaced at Harcum by current associate head coach John Ball.

In his 17-seasons at Harcum, Kelly put together a 429-102 (.808) record, including a 32-2 mark in 2021-22. He was also named as the NJCAA Division I East District coach of the year following this past season, after his team advanced to the national quarterfinals. During Kelly’s tenure, Harcum only won less than 20 games once – that was in a Covid shortened season in which they went 17-1.

Ball has been at Harcum for the past five seasons. He joined Kelly’s staff following a stint as the video coordinator at La Salle. Ball got started as a student manager under Pat Chambers at Penn State.

An official announcement on both of these moves is expected shortly.
