I have heard that Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will name Tim Ryan as their new head men’s basketball coach. Ryan had spent the past seventeen seasons as the head coach at the College of Central Florida. He will replace Jason Harrison who lasted less than a year at MGCC.
Ryan, who is the all-time leader in wins at the College of Central Florida, led the Patriots to the 2013 NJCAA D1 National Championship. During his career at the college, he averaged 23 wins per season, and captured the Mid-Florida Conference Coach of the Year award nine times.
This would have been Ryan’s final season at the College of Central Florida no matter what, as school made the decision in December to discontinue men’s and women’s basketball, as well as women’s volleyball.
An official announcement from MCGCC is expected shortly.
