I can confirm through multiple sources that Kilgore College (TX) will hire Coastal Bend College (TX) head coach Robert Byrd to take over their men’s basketball program. Byrd will replace Brian Hoberecht who resigned in mid-July after 15-seasons on the job.

Byrd was hired at Coastal Bend last May, following a two-year stint as the head coach at Arkansas Cossatot CC. This past season, he led CBC to a 19-12 (12-7) record.

Prior to his time at Cossatot, Byrd spent two seasons as an assistant at the University of St. Thomas (TX), and also spent six years as the head coach at Lone Star College-CyFair (TX). During his time at LSC-CyFair, Byrd won over 20 games in each of his six campaigns.
