Liddell promoted to Associate Head Basketball Coach at D2 Davenport

Dylan Liddell has been promoted to Associate Head Coach for the men’s basketball program at Davenport University. Liddell has been with the program for the past seven seasons and is the longest tenured assistant in DU men’s basketball history. He has been on the bench for 112 wins over the course of his seven seasons in Grand Rapids. His student-athletes have earned 14 All-GLIAC awards since joining NCAA Division II (prior to 2017-18 season) to go along with six All-WHAC awards in his first and only season on the bench during the Panthers’ NAIA era.

COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH BURT PADDOCK
“Coach Liddell has played a vital role during an incredibly important time in men’s basketball here at DU. He was instrumental in his first season helping guide our (then NAIA) program to a 24-win season and our eighth National Tournament appearance in a row. Upon completion of the 2016-17 season, he helped us embark on our transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.   There were many challenges that we faced during this pivotal time, however, Coach Liddell was tireless in helping us make the move as seamless as possible for our athletic department, our staff and most importantly our student-athletes.

Coach Liddell has been instrumental in helping us recruit and develop countless all-conference performers, All-GLIAC defensive team members, and GLIAC Player of the Year (Dyllon Hudson-Emory). As well, during his six years on staff (as members of NCAA Division II) he has helped us win multiple GLIAC Championships. A feat only one other GLIAC institution can claim in that time frame.

It is with great trust and confidence that we are naming Coach Liddell our Associate Head Coach. I know as we move into the 2023-24 season he will continue to do incredible things for our program and our student-athletes. I can not imagine a more dedicated coach at any level who contributes as much time and effort as he has and will continue to do so as we move forward and focus on our next GLIAC Championship!”
