The Limestone College Athletics Department and Head Coach Kyle Perry have announced the additions of Wesley Pittman and Colton Ayers to the men’s basketball coaching staff.
Pittman joins the Saints after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with Eastern Florida State College. During his time with the Titans, he helped lead the team to an overall record of 58-13 which included two Mid-Florida Conference Championships and an appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I National Championship Final Four.
“I’m very excited to add Wes to our staff,” commented Perry. “He brings experience from Eastern Florida, which is one of the top JUCO programs in the country. Coach Shulman at Eastern Florida spoke highly of the character and work ethic of Coach Pittman. He has also worked for the likes of Billy Donovan and Mike White at the University of Florida. I am looking forward to our future together.”
Prior to his time at Eastern Florida, Pittman served one year as the video coordinator for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he managed all aspects of video production and game film breakdown.
Pittman began his coaching career at Metrolina Christian Academy in Indian Trail, N.C. where he served as an assistant coach for the varsity basketball team before becoming a graduate manager for the University of Florida.
While Pittman worked towards his Master of Science in Sport Management degree, he assisted with the daily operations of the Gator men’s basketball program including conducting individual workouts, assisting in drills and providing statistical breakdowns of upcoming opponents.
As an undergraduate student, Pittman spent two seasons with the Wingate University basketball program as team manager. During his time with the Bulldogs he assisted with practices, was in charge of game film and helped with the organization of travel.
“I would like to thank Mike Cerino, Coach Perry and the entire hiring committee for giving me this opportunity,” said Pittman. “I am excited and honored to be a part of the Limestone family.”
Pittman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wingate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and from the University of Florida in 2016 with a Master of Science in Sport Management.
Ayers joins the Limestone men’s basketball coaching staff after spending the last three seasons as a student manager for the Clemson University men’s basketball program. During his tenure with the Tigers, Ayers assisted with the day-to-day operations including helping with practices and individual workouts.
“Coach Ayers came highly recommended from two different people I respect in our profession,” added Perry. “He did a great job at Clemson and will do the same here for us. He has already hit the ground running and has been a huge help in a number of different areas. He is really good on the floor and has turned over new names in recruiting.”
Ayers began his coaching career as an assistant AAU basketball coach before gaining experience by working at various camps and clinics throughout the state of South Carolina.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the Saints and Coach Perry,” commented Ayers. “I look forward to being a part of this prestigious program.”
Ayers spent one season playing basketball for Southern Wesleyan University before transferring to Clemson where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management with a minor in Athletic Leadership in May 2019.
