Trey Lindsey, a 2015 graduate and two-year starter and captain at St. Edward’s University, has been announced as the assistant men’s basketball coach for the Hilltoppers by Head Coach Andre Cook.

Lindsey was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Loyola University New Orleans for one season where he helped guide the Wolf Pack to a 16-win season and appearance in the SSAC Championship tournament. During the season Lindsey was in charge of detailed scouting reports, film, and personnel for upcoming opponents. The Wolf Pack advanced to the SSAC Semifinals before falling to nationally-ranked Dalton State 80-69.

Lindsey is returning to his collegiate roots at SEU. He was a two-year starter and captain for the Hilltoppers and then served as a graduate assistant coach for one season. During his time as GA, Lindsey served as the recruiting coordinator for the state of Texas while also assisting with scouting reports and booking travel. Lindsey also advised on offensive ideas and concepts, helping the Hilltoppers finish second in the conference in scoring, averaging 84.3 points per game.

“I am thrilled to welcome Trey back,” said Cook. “Trey was a terrific player and did a fantastic job as my graduate assistant. He understands our culture and program. This past year he earned great experience at Loyola, New Orleans. Trey knows that he needs to hit the ground running as the guys will be back and we will be on the court soon. However, I know he is up to the challenge.”

A standout student-athlete under Coach Cook, Lindsey started in all 60 games he appeared in for the Hilltoppers, averaging 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per outing.

Prior to SEU, the 6-6 forward played two years at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, appearing in 45 games for the Warhawks and made 14 starts during that span.

Before heading to Monroe, Lindsey was a three-year letterman at Bowie High School in Austin where he helped the Bulldogs capture two district championships and one regional crown during his tenure.

Trey graduated from St. Edward’s in 2017 with a M.S. in Leadership and Change after earning his B.A. in Kinesiology in 2015.
