Lottich, Price added to Brown Basketball Staff

Brown Men’s Basketball Head Coaching Chair Mike Martin ’04 has announced the addition of Matt Lottich and DeVon Price to the staff ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Lottich joins the program as Associate Head Coach and Price arrives to College Hill as the Operations Coordinator.

“We are thrilled to be able to add Matt and DeVon to our staff and the Brown Basketball family,” said Martin. “Each comes with great experience, and we feel they will be outstanding fits here as we continue to pursue Ivy League championships.”

Most recently serving as Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Missouri in 2023-24, Lottich brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Brown staff. He served as the portal recruiting coordinator and helped secure the fifth-ranked high school recruiting class per 247 Sports.

Prior to his season at Missouri, Lottich spent seven seasons as the head coach at Valparaiso and helped the Beacons win the 2017 Horizon League and earn a berth to the NIT. He compiled 108 victories and sits as the third-winningest coach in program history.

A 2004 Stanford graduate, Lottich led the team in scoring as a senior and earned First Team All Pac-10 honors in addition to being named a Wooden Award Finalist. The Cardinal made NCAA Tournament appearances all four years and reached the Elite 8 in 2001.

Following his collegiate career, Lottich spent 10 years playing professionally in the United States and abroad with stops in Germany, Japan, and New Zealand.

“Matt was a phenomenal player on some great teams at Stanford, had a long and successful career as a professional, and brings 10+ years of experience coaching at the college level, including seven as the head coach at Valparaiso University,” Martin commented. “He emphatically checks every single box that was identified as we began this search. He’s a really well-rounded coach who will connect well with the student-athletes we have at Brown and help recruit exceptional prospective student athletes.”

Price joins the Brown staff after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Denison University. While at Denison, he served as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Big Red. Price helped Denison reach the 15-win milestone in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns, marking the third-most wins in program history.

Price played collegiately for the University of Rio Grande (NAIA) and graduated in 2018. He served as team captain in 2017-18 and led the team in assists and steals as both a junior and senior.

Following graduation, Price served as an assistant for two years at Bluffton University and earned a Master of Business Administration from Bluffton in 2020.

“DeVon is a fantastic addition to our staff and program,” Martin noted. “He will excel in the role of Operations Coordinator because he brings every skill set you need for the position. He’s been part of a terrific program with Coach Chris Sullivan at Denison University and was heavily involved with every aspect of building their program. We are fortunate to be bringing in a coach with his experience and talent to Brown!”

Lottich and Price join a Bruno squad that reached the Ivy League Championship game in 2023-24 with Nana Owusu-Anane and Kino Lilly Jr. headlining the returners.
