Rick Malnati, former head boys basketball coach at New Trier High School in Wilmette, Ill., has been added to the Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball staff as special assistant/advisor to the head coach. Although Malnati’s role will not allow him any on-court coaching, his vast knowledge of the game will provide an immediate benefit to the Loyola program especially in the areas of film breakdown, practice planning and scouting. Malnati was a highly successful head coach at New Trier for 12 years, from 1996-2008.
