McCord promoted at Maryville College

Maryville College Head Basketball Coach Raul Placeres has announced that Jeff McCord has been elevated to a full-time assistant coach within his program.

“I am really excited about adding Jeff to our program as a full-time assistant,” stated Placeres. “His passion, commitment, and experience in knowing what it takes to grow as a player in the program and win at this level will be huge for our team. Jeff is one of the winningest MC players of all time.”

Jeff McCord graduated from Maryville College in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. In Jeff’s four years at Maryville College, the basketball team had a record of 92-22 with four NCAA tournament appearances. After graduating, Jeff worked in the financial industry at ORNL Federal Credit Union until 2018 when he joined the Maryville College Basketball team as a volunteer assistant.

“Returning as an assistant two seasons ago reminded me of what a privilege it is to be a student-athlete at Maryville College,” stated Coach McCord. “I was blessed to have professors, coaches, and teammates that truly made my time at Maryville special. I’m excited about this new role and the opportunity to be able to give back to a school that provided so much for me as a young adult.”

“We have a great relationship which dates back to our days as teammates in our last Sweet 16 appearance as a program in 2004,” exclaimed Placeres. “I am very excited for Jeff, our players, and the future of this program!”

Jeff will focus on assisting with recruiting, video breakdown, player development, and academic monitoring.

Jeff currently resides in Maryville with his wife Jessica and son Landon.
