Marques McKinney has been named the next Head Men’s Basketball Coach at SUNY Ulster. McKinney, originally from Fishkill, NY; has had several assistant coaching positions over the last four seasons, including stints at Cazenovia College, Medaille College, New York Institute of Technology, and most recently Onondaga Community College. In 2016-17 at Medaille College, he helped lead the Mavericks to the AMCC Regular Season Championship, Conference Tournament Championship, and a berth to the Division III NCAA Tournament. At Onondaga Community College during the 2018-2019 season, he helped lead the Lazers to a Co-Regular Season Championship, a Conference Tournament Championship, and a berth in the NJCAA Regional Tournament.

He brings a wealth of experience at the college level, and has proven himself as a tireless recruiter during his time as an Assistant Coach. In addition, McKinney has worked numerous summer basketball camps, including at Marist College, Vassar College, Hoop Mountain Elite Camp, VCU Basketball Camp, Upstate Scout Showcase, and Siena College Elite Camp. McKinney competed at Dutchess Community College from 2002-2004, and finished his with 933 points in his two-year career with the Falcons.
McKinney is a graduate of John Jay High School in 2002, received his Associate Degree from Dutchess Community College in 2005, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Empire State College in 2016.
The SUNY Ulster Men’s Basketball team lost in the Semi-Finals of the Region XV Tournament in 2020. The program looks to rebound in 2021, and make a run at the Region XV title.
