According to a report by The Michigan Insider, Wolverines head coach John Beilein will once again tap into the Illinois State basketball staff to hire an assistant coach. Late last week, it was reported that ISU assistant coach DeAndre Haynes would fill one of the two vacant assistant spots on the Michigan staff, and now it appears that he will be joined by current Illinois State associate head coach Luke Yaklich. A long-time high school and AAU coach, Yaklich joined the Redbirds staff back in 2013, and was promoted to associate head coach prior to last season.
Haynes and Yaklich will replace Billy Donlon (Northwestern) and Jeff Meyer (Butler) on Beilein’s staff. It was also reported last week that director of basketball operations Waleed Samaha has left the Wolverines program. The posting for the vacant DBO job can be found HERE.
