Mount Saint Mary College Names Ian Thom Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Mount Saint Mary College Head Basketball Coach Ryan Kadlubowski has announced the addition of Ian Thom to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Thom comes to the Mount with both collegiate and professional playing experience.

Thom played his collegiate basketball at Birmingham-Southern where he was a team captain and a two-time All-Southern Athletic Association pick. He also boasts a selection to the SAA All-Academic Team. Following his collegiate career, he went on to play professional in Ireland for the Neptune Basketball Club and coached the Neptune U14 team.

“I am very excited to welcome Ian Thom to Mount Saint Mary College and to our basketball family”, stated Kadlubowski. “His character, work ethic and basketball knowledge that he has shaped throughout his career will truly benefit out student-athletes and will make him a welcome addition to our program,” the head coach continued.

In addition to his playing experience in the States, Thom is a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials where he officiates games for all ages, levels and gender. He also coached a U14 AAU program for Iron City Hoops in Birmingham where he executed game plans and designed practice plans and worked on skill development.

Thom graduated from Birmingham-Southern with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics in 2017. Thom went on to complete his Master’s degree in Marketing from Cork Institute of Technology.
