Breaking: Central Michigan hires Keno Davis

ESPN has reported that Central Michigan has hired Keno Davis as its new basketball coach. Davis was the AP’s national coach of the year in 2008, when he was at Drake. He then went to Providence, where he coached three seasons before being fired last March. A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow.

He is familiar with the Buffalo area – before URI, he was the head coach at St. Bonaventure (1992-2001) where he went 132-131.

Self Named 2012 Naismith COY

University of Kansas head coach Bill Self was named the 2012 Naismith Men’s College Basketball Coach of the Year. Self has led the Jayhawks to a 32-6 record. He joins Larry Brown and Roy Williams as the other Kansas coaches to win the award. Brown won in 1988 and Williams claimed his in 1997. Stay
