Jim Whitesell has just been fired by Loyola University (Chicago) according to Chicago Breaking Sports.com. He had been at LU since 2004 compiling a 109-106 record. Whitesell’s Ramblers went 16-15 (7-11 Horizon). A formal announcement is expected this afternoon.

Arkansas Fires Pelphrey

After an 18-13 season that ended with three consecutive losses, Arkansas has dismissed head coach John Pelphrey, according to ESPN.com. Pelphrey met with his AD and players today. A formal news conference will made sometime today or tomorrow.

BREAKING: Georgia Tech fires Hewitt

Paul Hewitt has been fired as the head coach at Georgia Tech. Hewitt finished his career with a 190-162 mark and led Georgia Tech to the national championship game in 2004. He is still owed over $7 Million on his current contract.

Utah Fires Boylen

The University of Utah has fired men’s basketball coach Jim Boylen. Boylen was 69-60 overall in four seasons at Utah but had back to back losing seasons. A national search will begin immediately.
