Kent press conference scheduled for today at 3:30 (PDT)

The University of Oregon has scheduled a press conference with men’s basketball coach Ernie Kent and athletic director Mike Bellotti for 3:30 p.m. (PDT). Report: Lickliter out at Iowa

Multiple sources are reporting that Todd Lickliter has been fired at Iowa. Apparently he had a 9:00am meeting this morning with Athletic Director Gary Barta which lasted less than 10 minutes. After the meeting, Barta scheduled a 2:30 news conference today to discuss the situation.

Lutz fired at Charlotte

Bobby Lutz was fired at UNC-Charlotte this morning. Lutz, who is the program’s all-time winningest coach, guided the 49ers to eight post-season trips in his 12-year career (218-158), he is also an alum of the school. The entire staff was released as well. There will be a 4:00pm news conference today.

Central Florida fires Speraw

Kirk Speraw was not retained at Central Florida. Speraw was hired in 1993 and was 279-233 during his tenure at UCF. This season, UCF finished 15-17 and 6-10 in C-USA. Associate Head Coach Mike Jaskulski will serve as interim coach until a successor is named.

Williamson the choice at Central Arkansas

HoopDirt has learned that Central Arkansas will name Corliss Williamson as their next head coach. Williamson won the 1994 National Championship as a player at Arkansas, and had a 10-year NBA career. He spent last season as the Head Coach at Arkansas Baptist. The official announcement will be made soon.

4:30 press conference at Toledo

Toledo is scheduled to hold a 4:30 press conference today to announce the dismissal of head coach Gene Cross. The Rockets were just 4-28 this past season – Cross’s second at at the school. I’ll keep you updated as it becomes official.
