I have heard from great sources that there are 4-5 finalists in the search to replace Austin Claunch (Alabama) at Nicholls State. The names that I have heard are:

• Nick Bowman – Associate head coach Nicholls State. Has been at NSU since 2018, was promoted to associate head coach in 2021. Spent three years as Clemson’s director of recruiting, and worked in administrative roles at Tennessee, and EKU.

• Trevor Deloach – Assistant Coach Jacksonville. Former associate head coach under Claunch at Nicholls St. Has been at JU since 2021. Also worked as an assistant at South Carolina State and Maryland Eastern Shore.

• Chris Oney – Head Coach Pearl River CC. The veteran coach has served as the head coach at PRCC for the past seven seasons (145-32). Spent 2000-01 as an assistant at Nicholls and has also worked at ULM and Grambling.

• Tyler Parker – Assistant Coach – South Alabama. Worked at NSU for one season under former head coach Richie Riley, before following him to South Alabama back in 2018. Also spent time as the associate head coach at Shorter College and Crowley’s Ridge College.

• The fifth candidate was Loyola Chicago assistant Amorrow Morgan, but he’s on his way to Cal as an assistant. Not sure if a new fifth candidate is now in the mix – there are conflicting reports of a non-D1 head coach possibly taking Morrow’s spot in this search.
