HoopDirt.com has learned that Oakland head coach Greg Kampe will add Mychal Covington to his staff as an assistant coach. He will replace Drew Valentine who became an assistant at Loyola back in early June.
Covington played in 113 games at Oakland from 1998-2002, and had spent time as the head coach at Detroit’s Melvindale Academy for Business and Technology. The Pontiac, MI native has also been a part of Detroit’s The Family (AAU). He will join Detroit native Tony Jones as new assistants on Kampe’s staff. Jones was hired back on June 6th, replacing Cornell Mann who became an assistant at Missouri.
