OFFICIAL: Brendan Smith Named Basketball Operations Coordinator at Brown

Following up on a rumor that HoopDirt.com posted back on 11/8 (Ivy League Dirt)…

Brendan Smith has officially joined the Brown University basketball coaching staff as its operations coordinator after working for three years as an assistant coach at Philadelphia University.

Smith worked at Philadelphia University from 2013 to 2016 under its Hall of Fame head coach Herb Magee.  He had recruiting and evaluation duties, worked with players in one-on-one skill groups and assisted with the off-season strength and conditioning program.

A 2011 graduate of Penn State in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, Smith earned a Master’s degree in Higher Education at Penn State in 2013. He was a graduate assistant coach at Penn State from the summer of 2011 to the spring of 2013, assisting the Nittany Lion coaching staff in all aspects of the program.

Smith has worked numerous camps, including the Phil Martelli Basketball Camp, the Penn State Basketball Camps and the Herb Magee Basketball Camps.

Smith replaces former Operations Coordinator John Mariano who departed the staff earlier in the fall.
